Holding Grief

An online event by The Guild for Spiritual Guidance
January 3, 2024
7:30 - 8:30 pm
Online

The Guild for Spiritual Guidance invites you to an evening of “Holding Grief” in community and in solidarity with those who are experiencing all of the unspeakable horrors of war. You are invited to gather for a time of silence on Wednesday evening January 3, 2024 from 7:30 – 8:00 pm.

Holding grief together in silence is a way to share compassion and healing for a hurting world. Please join the zoom room in silence. Following 30 minutes of silence, there will be time for an additional 30 minutes of tender conversation for those who need to share.

Please register for one or both of the Zoom meetings below. This is a no-cost program. For more information please email info@spiritualguidance.org.

Nan Merrill was a founder of The Guild for Spiritual Guidance.  Friends of Silence will be posting events offered by the Guild.

Quote of the Day

More than the fuchsia funnels breaking out
of the crabapple tree, more than the neighbor's
almost obscene display of cherry limbs shoving
their cotton candy-colored blossoms to the slate
sky of Spring rains, it's the greening of the trees
that really gets to me. When all the shock of white
and taffy, the world's baubles and trinkets, leave
the pavement strewn with the confetti of aftermath,
the leaves come. Patient, plodding, a green skin
growing over whatever winter did to us, a return
to the strange idea of continuous living despite
the mess of us, the hurt, the empty. Fine then,
I'll take it, the tree seems to say, a new slick leaf
unfurling like a fist to an open palm, I'll take it all.
~ Ada Limón, "Instructions on Not Giving Up," in THE CARRYING
